Hello everyone.....Here is one of our newest and finest English woodens. She is a reproduction I made of a antique dating from 1740's. I rarely dress a doll in a court dress like this as they are so time consuming and labour intensive to make but this doll was so lovely and just the perfect candidate for a wonderful and wide court dress. Her dress fabric is also from the 1740's.
Oooooo aahhhhh - Im loving her. The dress fabric is perfect scale for her too. I particularly like her hair and what a serene air she has. She must be a Serene Highness!
The Old Pretenders studio offers collectors the finest quality reproductions of English wooden dolls in the 17th and 18th century manner. Each one of a kind creation is handcrafted individually using traditional techniques and an eye for authenticity in every detail. Our dolls feature custom made enamel eyes, appropriately fashioned wigs and meticulously researched costumes. As often as possible: 17th and 18th century antique textiles, trim work and lace are used in order to recreate a doll that looks and feels every bit as authentic as an original example.
The Old Pretenders studio also offers a complete range of restoration services for antique English wooden dolls. Whether a doll needs subtle conservation, limb replacement or repair or a complete refinishing and re-costuming- it will be done with the utmost care.
